Accessing Our Services

Surgery Opening Hours

The surgery premises are open each weekday from 8.30am until 5.00pm, unless there is a travel clinic running when the surgery closes at 6.00pm. These hours will change slightly from 1st September 2008, please see news section of site.

Appointments

Every patient has the right to express a preference of practitioner and, where possible, this will be accommodated. The doctors do prefer patients to see 'the same doctor for the same problem' wherever possible.

Urgent cases will be seen from 11.00am each day. However, you must give your name to reception before 11.30am. You may not always see your own doctor and you should be prepared for a delay if the surgery is busy.

Afternoon/evening surgeries are between 2.30 - 5.00pm by appointment (some later appointments will be available from September 2008, please see news section.

Home Visits

We ask all patients to come to the surgery whenever possible as we are better equipped to deal with your illness. (We have separate examination rooms for infectious cases or if you are too ill to stay in the waiting area.)

If a home visit is medically essential, please telephone the surgery before 11.00am.

Where possible tell us the symptoms and reason for your request as this helps the doctor to judge the urgency of your call.

Emergencies

If you need emergency treatment, please telephone 01942 681880. Outside normal surgery hours a message may tell you to 'phone another number' (so keep a paper and pencil handy). If your own doctor is not available, a partner or local duty doctor will call.

Telephone Advice

If you need telephone advice, the most convenient time to phone is between 11.00am and 12 noon.

The doctor, however, may be busy in surgery - if this is the case ask
the receptionist if there is a convenient time to phone again (or leave your telephone number where you can be contacted).
